About
MuniciPolitics is a civic engagement non-profit organization run by volunteers and staff in London, Ontario. MuniciPolitics seeks to connect London high school students with the political structure that affects them most, local government. Through single-class workshop teaching sessions, MuniciPolitics will complement the traditional curriculum and introduce Grade 10 Civics students to the concepts of London City Council, community-building, and municipal services. The goals of MuniciPolitics are to engage, educate, inspire, and link students with the London community for the betterment of the Forest City.
Subject Matter and Curriculum

We are seeking a number of executive staff to launch MuniciPolitics, and position descriptions are included in the file hereafter. Additionally, we are seeking instructors to provide teaching for students, and to develop aspiring educators. - “Mock” London City Council - each student will represent the interests of (a) an area of the city or neighbourhood that they are familiar with (b) a municipal concern (ie. water conservation, environment and recycling, public transportation, parks and recreation, etc.)
- MuniciPolitics facilitators will present a set of pre-tabled items to be discussed, and have each student weigh-in on their opinion from their respectively-assigned portfolio
- Short lecture about structure and purpose of municipal government in London
- Information session about opportunities to get involved at the local level
- Question and answer period
